Battery Recycling
There is a drop box for used batteries available at the Town Office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Details about Asquith's Recycling Program
The Town of Asquith implemented a curbside recycling program in August of 2011.
The recycling is a single stream or “co-mingled” program that means no sorting for you, the ratepayer. All approved recyclables can now be placed together in a 95 gallon blue recycling cart, allowing the diversion of over 60% of household waste away from the landfill.
Every household will receive a blue bin. The following are allowable materials for the blue bins:
ALLOWABLE PAPER FIBER MATERIALS (Do not bag or tie)
-Flattened corrugated cardboard and paperboard (i.e. empty cereal boxes, empty detergent boxes, empty tissue boxes, etc)
-Newspapers, flyers, inserts, junk mail
– Magazines, catalogues, paperback books, hardcover books with covers and spines removed
– Telephone books
– Letter quality paper
– Brown paper bags, tissue roll cores, gift and packing paper, paper egg cartons
– Envelopes with or without windows
– Copier paper, computer printouts, NCR (no carbon required) paper
Sorry, we do not accept the following:
– Waxed, plasticized or food contaminated paper, cardboard, cups or plastic plates
– Soild tissues, napkins or paper towels
– Confetti shredded paper or heavily dyed or colored construction paper
– Styrofoam or other foam packing materials
– Household garbage, organics, hazardous waste, or items other than those listed
ALLOWABLE CONTAINERS – Cleaned and Rinsed (Do not bag or tie)
– Aluminum soft drink and beer cans
– Household tin cans (please rinse)
– Milk cartons and jugs (please rinse and remove caps)
– Juice cartons, boxes and tetra-pak containers (please rinse)
– Plastic soft drink and water bottles (please remove caps)
– Place plastic grocery bags insided another bag and secure; includes clean plastic food wrap and clean plastic product wrap
– Household plastic containers and bottles – with a #1 through to a #7 on the bottom (a container with no arrows, or a container with arrows but without a number inside cannot be accepted)
– Glass jars and bottles; clear, green or brown (please rinse and remove lids). NO cups, dishes, ashtraus, window glass, Pyrex, ceramics, light bulbs or crystal
Sorry, we do not accept the following:
– Contaminated plastic food or product wrap
– Hazardous chemical containers (e.g. motor oil containers)
– Auto parts, batteries
– Any scrap metals other than household tin and aluminium cans
– Propane tanks, gasoline or any type of fuel containers
– Wire or plastic clothes hangers
– Clear plastic clam shell containers without the recycling arrows
– Plastic toys or Tupperware
– Plastic pipe
– Outdoor lawn furniture
– Items other than those listed in “Containers” section above.
Only place items that are designated as recyclable within the Blue Recycling Cart. Carts will be monitored and unacceptable items will be left curbside, or your cart will be rejected for collection. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to recycling!
Asquith Landfill Closure
As of November 15, 2015, the Asquith Landfill officially closed.
Please plan accordingly for your waste disposal.
Saskatoon Landfill – Located on Valley Road, south of 11th Street
Hours of operation – Open seven days a week, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day
Winter Hours (October 13, 2015 – April 13, 2016) 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Summer Hours (April 14, 2016- Mid October 2016) 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Tipping fees and charges must be paid to use the landfill for more information,

If you are planning to do a job such as a renovation that will involve a lot of waste and debris having to go to a landfill, you may want to explore contracting with Loraas to bring you a bin that you can fill up and that they will take away for a cost. Loraas can be reached at (306)242-2300.
You can go to the Sask Waste Reduction Website www.saskwastereduction.ca
to find different businesses that will receive recyclables, oil, shingles, appliances, etc.
One business, BN Metals located at 1920 Quebec Avenue, accepts household appliances free of charge:
fridges, stoves, freezers, dishwashers, washers and dryers, furnaces, hot water heaters, microwaves,
air conditioners and toasters. The drop off area is open 24/7 and is located in front of the building on the
North side. BN Metals also takes batteries (automotive and miscellaneous), paper, cardboard, plastic (household), propane tanks, scrap metal and automobiles.
You can take shingles for recycling to All Rock Hauling for a nominal fee of $55 per tonne. They are located at 140-71st St. West, Saskatoon. They are open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
