BYLAW NO.11-2019
A BYLAW OF THE TOWN OF ASQUITH TO FIX THE RATES TO BE CHARGED FOR THE USE AND CONSUMPTION OF WATER AND TO FIX THE RATES TO CHARGED BY WAY OF RENT OR SERVICE CHARGE FOR THE USE OF THE SEWER
WHEREAS the Council may regulate the distribution and use of water in the Municipality and may fix the price for the use thereof and the times of payments; and
WHEREAS it is deemed necessary that the properties or premises drained or required by bylaw to be drained into the sanitary sewer system shall be charged a reasonable rent or service charge for the use of the said sewer;
NOW, THEREFORE, the council of the Town of Asquith enacts as follows:
PART I - INTERPRETATION:
1. Unit is defined as a distinct residential (living) and/or commercial (working) space separate from others in any particular home, residence, building or parcel or parcels of land.
For example: a house is 1 unit
a house with a suite is two units
a duplex with a suite is three units
a duplex with two suites is four units
a trailer court or mobile home park with 20 trailers is 20 units
a commercial building with three bays is three units
a commercial building with 4 offices is four units
a commercial building with one office and two suites is three units
PART II - WATER BYLAW
1. The charges to be paid by the water consumer whose water service has been
turned on shall be those set out in Schedule “A” attached;
provided, however, that the minimum shall be payable in every case whether or not any water is consumed.
2. Persons who own or occupy premises drained or that are by bylaw required to
be drained into the sewer shall pay for such services a rental rate or service
charge in accordance with Schedule “B” attached.
3. An infrastructure fee will be added to each utility billing and shall become part of
the monthly fees; as per Schedule “C” attached; and will be subject to change at
Council’s discretion.
4. Accounts for water service and/or sewer service shall cover a period
of one month and shall be rendered on or before the last day of the month
following such period. Accounts shall be paid within a period of thirty days
from the date on which such accounts are rendered. If an account is not paid within the period of thirty days, the water service may be cut off. When the
water service is cut off, it shall not be turned on until all arrears have been paid, together with a fee of $30.00 to cover the expenses of turning off the water and turning it on again; provided that if it is required to turn on the water service outside the employees’ regular working hours, the fee shall be $50.00.
5. Bylaw No. 1-2017 is hereby repealed.
THE rates, charges, tolls or rents contained in this bylaw shall come into force and take effect on the day of approval being issued by the Local Government Committee.

TO BYLAW NO. 11-2019
1. MONTHLY WATER RATES
3,000 gallons or less per month Minimum - $29.25 per unit
3,001 gallons or more $10.50 per 1,000 gallons
or part thereof.
Bulk Water Usage - $3.00 per fill (approximately 300 gallons)
